The first page of the second chapter! We’ve made some slight changes to the characters beginning in this chapter, which we feel were necessary for creating a more faithful translation of the film. The main update is that Mario and Luigi are now in their traditional jumpsuits rather than coveralls. We received a lot of complaints for that and knew it had to be rectified. The other update is that Mario is now trimmer than before. We didn’t want to fall into the trap of making the character squat and ugly, as is so often the case. There’s Daniella! Looks like she went to hang out in the palace where it’s safe. Makes sense, doesn’t it? The heroes reunite with their respective ladies before Luigi asks an important, niggling question that the film’s fans have held for years. Could we finally get an answer to one of the film’s greatest mysteries? Check back next week to find out!

Toad continues to play on stage while Luigi and Daisy discuss his return. Looks like Toad does need the suit, although he was willing to take it off just to perform. The page ends with a shadow falling onto Luigi and Daisy. What could be casting it?

Finally, congratulations[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
It’s always fun depicting the crazy aspects of this parallel world and dinosaur culture, including their food. It just provides a great opportunity to do a lot with both the details and colors. From this chapter on we’re going to do a lot more scene jumping. We hope that this makes the story feel a little more dynamic that several narratives are ongoing within the overall plot. It should also create a little tension where necessary.
Reznor and Mario are now on the tower’s balcony, overlooking the city, but is fresh air enough to make things right for the two of them?
